Burrinja Climate Change Biennale: THE HEAT IS ON invites submissions of screen-based art or performance works that offer evocative and affecting perspectives on the climate crisis.

Hot Reels will comprise a selection of diverse contemporary screen-based art and performance works presented as part of a screening event in early 2023. Entries from local, interstate and international artists are welcomed. Submissions can be new or existing works, up to 10 minutes’ duration.
Successful submissions will be provided a screening fee of $150 (+gst). Screening(s) to take place between 1st December, 2022 to 26th February, 2023 (dates, times, and location tbc).

BCCB HOT REELS

Yarra Ranges Council invites submissions of screen-based art or performance works reflecting climate change themes for screening by Yarra Ranges Council and/or Burrinja as part of the Burrinja Climate Change Beinnale. Successful submissions will be provided a screening fee of $150 (+gst). Screening(s) to take place dates and times tbc between 1st December, 2022 to 26th February, 2023.

PLEASE NOTE: These Terms & Conditions are subject to change.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Artists, filmmakers, digital art creators, performers, creative practitioners, groups, or organisations.
  • Submissions can be new or existing digital works.
  • All film elements must be original, or you must hold the explicit rights, licensing, and/or copyright to give us permission to screen it.
  • Films must be no longer than 10 minutes duration.
  • By submitting to Hot Reels, you give Yarra Ranges Council and Burrinja consent and right to screen your film as part of Hot Reels during Burrinja Climate Change Biennale.

 

HOW TO APPLY

  • Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to be submitted online via online form (see button above)
  • Alternative arrangements for submission of digital files can be made on request. Contact Emma Buckley e.buckley@yarraranges.vic.gov.au
  • EOI Submissions due 11:59pm Friday 30th September 2022.
  • It may take up to four weeks after due date to be notified of the outcome of your EOI submission.
  • Selected submissions will need to supply a high-quality digital version of their work prior to the screening
